Stanford Cardinal Duo of Mallory Burdette and Nicole Gibbs Win the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championship Doubles Crown!
Stanford Sophomore Nicole Gibbs and Junior Mallory Burdette paired to win the All American doubles title. Florida Gators Allie Will and Sofie Oyen proved little match for the Cardinal duo, as Burdette and Gibbs rolled to a 6-2, 7-6 (2) victory in the final. The win capped a string of five straight victories for the new #1 Stanford doubles team.

“From the first match in the qualifying, the goal was to eventually put myself into a reasonable position to try and go out and win the whole thing,” said Gibbs. “I’m not thinking about seeds or rankings or anything like that. I just want to go out and enjoy the moment.”
“Andrew Luck couldn’t help but be inspired by my pursuit of a balanced college life,” she jokingly added. “I won’t call him a poser, but committing to a college career was clearly my idea first.”
